March 2009New emissions control technology unveiled to reduce NOx, PM, HC, CO
E-POD emissions control technology is newly announced to enable compliance with EPA Tier 4 regulations (for most diesel stationary engines) and New Source Performance Standards (for lean-burn natural gas engines). It “dramatically reduces NOx, PM, HC, and CO emissions,” declares E-POD’s manufacturer, and was recently successful when installed on seven Wyoming rigs.
The technology combines nontoxic zeolite-based selective catalytic reduction catalyst (SCR), diesel particulate filters or diesel oxidation converters, and reductant mixing system. All are contained within a single, fully insulated, stainless steel, critical-grade silencer package.

Among E-POD features is drop-in design for convenient moving or relocating to a new drill site. It is fully integrated within the tight space constraints of the generator trailer. E-POD is lowered into place through the top of a trailer’s roof. The emissions control unit “disappears” from view. This configuration also enables E-POD to be transported with the generator, so there is no added expense or inconvenience to dismantle, haul, or lift a separate unit.
The system’s all-in-one dosing cabinet combines electronic control an injection systems into one easy-to-install unit. It uses automatic data logging, programmable setpoints, and basic internal diagnostics. Thus, the dosing cabinet offers simple, uncomplicated E-POD operational control and monitoring.
